Its time to take stock on songs relesed this year. Lets go by the traditional count-down with 10 songs of 2006. This is based on my intrests and my opinion not biased on any movie/music director.
Off late iam not in touch with the latest releases,i catchin-up though, so movies released after Mid-Nov, I'm sorry.
Ok Start musik...
10. Kanavae kalaikirathe.. ...(ALAGAI IRUKIRAI BAYAMAI IRUKIRADHU - AIBU)
Yuvan shankar, he is one of the most succesfull Music.director now. If you see the number of albums this year by him its huge. But neither the quality nor the standard is compramised. Esply his BGM in Pudhupettai is excellent and well acclaimed.
Off late he has become a good singer too. Most of the songs in this movie are sung by him, and esply this song is too good. Simply superb lines from N.Muthukumar.

9. Paartha Mudhal Naalae ....(VETAYADU VILAYADU)
Harris Jeyaraj + Gautham, a succesfull combination again rocked with VV.
Nice song,I dont know the lyricist. A perfect melody from Bombay Jeyashree again. Cinemotagraphy was simple and good. Personally I dont like kamal running behind girls and romancing...ayoo...Kamal, hez not a artisit to make any such normal hero...which anybody can do,I dont want my-kamal to do these roles. Directors, pls think, are we not wasting Kamal, the same mistake we committed on the legend, Shivaji Ganesan ???

8. Idam Porul Parthu .. (CHITTIRAM PESUTHADI)
This movie is a surprise gift for the tamil cinema.Though the "Vaala Meenu" song rocked all the nuke and corner of TN, this is a beautiful song, with a nice choreogrpahy. Iam not sure about other albums of this music director. His music is fresh, re-recording is ok. A good sign of fresh blood in music. Need to wait and watch his other albums.

7. Kannai vittu kannimaikal, vidai kettal.. (PATTIAL)
6. Pooga pooga vanam therikirathe ... (PATTIAL)
This movie, though itis not a super-duber hit, it made a decent box-office. Songs & BGM from Yuvan is one of THE Factor. Well as I already mentioned about Yuvan, this song he personally voiced and , I become a fan of his voice !!! I guess yuvan controls the pulse & taste of tamil-songs-community !!
"Poga poga ..." song is a nice peppy number and the thme is just simple and good !!
"Namma kaatula.." from Raja's voice is a surprise gift in this movie. Overall its a good musical album !!
5. Newyork nagaram...(JILLENDRU ORU KADHAL)
There was a huge fight in an orkut community, that this is the best song of the year !! And the reason could be obviously ARR.
In my view, Yes this is a just a good song, as good as any other numbers , but not to the extent of saying it is the best.
But I like Singer-ARR, more than the Music-Director-ARR in this song. Had the same song been presented by any other music director, would that reached this level ?? I dont think so..it is just ARR factor which pullled this song.
Not because I'm not a great fan of ARR.If you really want to appraise ARR, then listen to RangDeBasanti !! You will realise who ARR really is, not in Jullendru oru kathal. He just rocked in BGM & Songs !!
4. Unparrvayil paithiam aanean...(SOMETHING SOMETHING)
Devisri prasad, though not a full time-tamil-music-director, hez my favourite. Be it a kuthu song (Sachien, Vadi Vadi..) be it a melody (Aaru, Sachien) and BGM too (all movies), Hez different and good. Though he hasn't noted well as compared to Yuvan & Harris , these time, iam always looking forward for his albums !!!
This song is a nice melody, I like the way the song starts and slowly the way it gains tempo in the middle !! Also the flute interlude inbetween, simply superb !!!!
3. Manjal veyil malayaile .. (VETAYADU VILAYADU)
Harris Jeyaraj at his best !!!
Vijay+Hari, romantic-lyrics,nice beats, beautiful choroegraphy !! No wonder why this song here.
Iam not sure about the lyricist (N.Muthukumar??). But he needs a special mention here, pure tamil words (tough these days !!!).
Esply Harris beats @ lines "vannangal vannangal attra valiyil valiyil sila ... nadukkiral-- nadukkiral "
is excellent !!!
2. Oodivaa kathalee, siru kaatrai thalai koothavaa..(AIBI)
This is not biased decission. You will understand if you listen to this song from N.MuthuKumar and vocal from Yuvan, along with the picturization - Excellent !! I donno y this song was not part of the main-stream, it will come as a bit-song, may not exactly bit, may be for 3.5 mts.
This is the reason y I like Yuvan + N.Muthukumar combination.
1. Sudum nilavu, sudatha suriyan...(THAMBI)
Viaramuthu + Vidyasagar + UnniKrishnan
Needless to mention about Vairamuthu, I donno how old he is now, but see the songs.
"Sudum nilavu, sudatha surian..." even a person who dont know about the cast, will tell, for sure, this Must be from Vairamuthu.
A trademark-vairamuthu lines !!
Unnikrishnan, Iam not sure, if hez singing songs these days, but this is to be show-cased !!
Best part of this song is, music, never tries to dominate the lyrics,a much-needed one for Vairamuthu's songs, always (which was alwayst he case of IR's and never happens in ARR's) !! After Chandramuki, Vidyasagar come back strongly with Thambi !!!

Casino Royale...To b a double 0, you have to kill atleast 2
First time when I saw bond movies, I was wondering, why can't bond be a "normal" human being ASWELL, besides his own style !!
Casino Royale is the answer...
Daniel Craig's rugged look, adds to it. Hez not so handsome as Borson or Roger Moore or Clive Owen (who turned down the offer of acting as bond) but defenitely, hez more MANlier than any of the previous Bonds. Any critic, about his fitness for the role, disappears in the first seen !!!
Actions - At its best. One of the best chasing sequence, I've seen in the recent times. When the vitim jumps and running acroos in to differnt floors, plan view of the camera was a brilliant work !!! Nerve biting stunts..!!! Two Thumbs-up for the stunt-director !!! Make sure you are not missing this chasing sequence...!!!
Bond, by design, is egoistic, arrogant and this is more revealing this movie, since this is based on the first bond novel. May be that is the reason he is not so womanizer in this movie..but not completely zero !!!
In an "intmate" seen (Ivana & Bond),Ivana asks..
Ivana: You always like married woman, don't you..
Bond: I dont want to get into any issues !!
In an other seen Bond to Green..
Bond: You are not my type...
Green : (because Iam) Smart..??
Bond: Single !!
If you are a bond-girl either you will be a bond girl again, or you will showup in Austin-power's.Naah, this is not the case for Eva Green, she is smart, little hot, makes bond chase her, makes him cry. Certainly Not-yet-an-other-bond-girl !!
Villan has deviced a new Way of toturing Bond in this movie, Nobody might ever have thought about this , EVER...When he take away succh a huge knotted, thing!!, you would have, no clue of wat hez going to do with that..But, Man when he does that...OMG - You feel like you are...oops you better watch it !!!
Bond starts the show saying "To be a 0 0 you have to kill atleast two", displaying his arrogance, cannot-control-me-attitue and egoistic character.
Brilliant action, rocking stuncts, great music, little emotions, more stylish, simple script, yet-classical,and PG-13 :-)
WHen the villan shouts, "whoz that",
Bond says with a stengun the most iconic line of the cinema Histroy "The Name is Bond, James Bond " and departs !!!
In my view Casino Royale tops any other bond-movie.

Everybody loves Raymond :
Time : Before marriage of Ray & Debra.
Ray works as service man for a sofa company. Debra (knows Ray some how) complains that he did tighten one of the sofa's leg properly and wants him to fix it soon.

R: Yeah it is great..(a small pause) still great....
D: (Kises Ray and says )You are still a good Kisser...
Camera zooms out...in the next table 3 of their kids are having their dinner...
!!!
private versus inheritance...
Bunch of computer science majors were listening to a lecture about java programming at a university. After the lecture a man leaned over his front to reach for a women's ....
Woman: "Hey! It's private OK!?"
The man hesitated for a second looking confused.
Man: "But I thought we were in the same class?
PS. OOPS, You must to know this to understand !!!!

Headless error....
Have you ever debugged an issue, which u have no clue atall, in otherwords, an issue which doesn't have any head or tail, when you cant make anything out of the error, when it is noway close to an known error, and more importantly it is occuring on somebody else code(shit !!), which you are debuggin now...
Well, Surprisingly, Sun has named one exception as Headless exception, and it reason for the error is inline with the exception name. May be a developer in sun Might have no idea of the error when he deloped it, and named it like that....
Most funny part is the Javadoc, given below is the snippet from it..
"Thrown when code that is dependent on a keyboard, display, or mouse is called in an environment that does not support a keyboard, display, or mouse."
Error trace :-(
java.awt.HeadlessException
at java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment.checkHeadless(GraphicsEnvironment.java:121)
at java.awt.Window.(Window.java:274)
at java.awt.Frame.(Frame.java:401)
"Calling getCause() gets the cause that caused the throwable to be thrown and when you've got the cause that threw the throwable, you'll know what caused the exception "

When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk
When You have to shoot, shoot, don't talk
Guess who says this ???
Tuco - The ugly in the "The Good The bad & The Ugly" says this, after killing his enemy who wanted to kill Tuco & caught him unarmed, in a bath tub(covered by foam !!), but wasting time in giving gyan without shooting.
Tuco shoot him with the gun, which he kept with him, but hidden in the foam...and says shiging at him "Huh..When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk .."
Latter this has been used across to mean "If action is required act, don't sit around debating it."
After a long time, I watched this movie yesterday.

There is always a limit to howmuch any country to take...
We friends were just chit-chatting when the arguments turned towards politics and vadi refereed about the Bluestar opearation. Frankly I've no idea wat he is refering to. Latter I googled and was really ashamed of my ignorance of such a important historic event in India,
- without which we would have lost Punjab,
- which eventually triggered (or major reason) the assasination of Indra Gandhi,
I'm really ashamed..
Following snippet is taken from rediff...
Brar [full named Kuldip Singh Brar] is probably the most protected army officer today, in service or retired. And all because one fateful night, 20 years ago, the then major general commanded Indian Army soldiers who entered the Golden Temple.
Operation Bluestar, as the mission was called, to flush out militants (Khalistan movement) from the holiest Sikh shrine remains till date one of the military's most difficult & controversial missions.
When asked about Bhindranwale [a highly decorated army officer who, after being dismissed from service for financial irregularities, became a close accomplice of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale - the man responsible for the Khalistan movement] who was behind the militants ,Brar says,
He was a very seasoned soldier who won the Mahavir Chakra [India's second highest bravery award in war] in 1971, who had to leave the army for whatever reason. He was a highly emotional person and had joined with Bhindranwale. Perhaps he believed that with the pilgrims inside, the Indian Army would not come in but he never realised there is always a limit to how much any country can take...
Well, This is a DARING decisions (taken by Indira Gandhi), well plannead and executed by Indian Army with minimum damage. It would be too immature for me to comment on this, but it is totally unfair to be and Indian, without knowing this, Thanks Vadi!!

The Departed - Finest Gangster movie.
The first difference you notice in this movie when compared to other Marti's is, this is not a self-narrarative-type. Most of his movies are of narrarative type which I dont appreciate much.
Story is like a mix of Don (Hindi) and Kuruthupunal (Kamal, Arjun). But the treatment is given for the script in totally different. Though this movie is classified as a gangster movie (or Marti's movie..) this is little different, in the sense not much of blood sheds and violences.
First 40% of the movie moves very slowly just with dialogues and facial expressions.
And the rest of the movie is full of twists, turns and surprises !!!!
One brilliant twist is before dying one of the Hench-men will find that Leanardo is the under-cover who Jack is looking for and tells him "How did u come to the corrrect place when I tell you the wrong address !!!!" and after a while you will realise that the hench-men who died is himself an undercover police from FBI like Leanado. And without any much of explnation for the viewers the script slowly moves the next level that there is not just one undercover police in the Jack's gang - but more that one...
Man you have to follow dialogue very closley else you will miss this :-)
Overall - not much of technicalities, no hi-fi grapihics, no violence or blood shed, yet the movie is brilliant , all because of tight script.!!
No wonder the movie is rated as one of the finest, in recent 200 releases, Good work Marti !!
(BTW,Had a chance to see DON-II, $10, waste!! I like him in Dil chate hai, admired in Lakshya, but what happened to him ?? )

MIT - Diwali celebrtions.
MIT, Hravard, or whatever frist class foriegn universities never admired me because i was never intrested in higher studies.
Yesterday Sangam - an Indian assosiation in MIT had their diwali celebration in their Campus.(of course itis NOT free !!). I'm usally uncomfortable with these kind of indian functions outside for the simple reason they will assume Hindi for granted. I cannt understand head or tail of it. For me any north Indian language is Hindi.
It was friday night, no othere usefull work todo, so we friends decided to spend time there, atleast we can see some good girls !!!
By the time we reach ther culturals were started. The hall was 3/4 full mostly with students, and little outsiders like us.Here and ther you could see some Foreigners.
Now the culturals..
First one was a Bharathanatiam dance by 4 of 5 girls, I dont remember the # of exactly because all the time I was starinf only at the girl dancing in the blue attire, she was looking very beautiful in a typical bharathanatiam attire (FYI, I'm no way related to any of these dance ).She was very nervous in the stage and her dance was not that great, who cares !!! My friend told me "ok buddy 20$ worth it"
Then it was a dance by guys for songs mixed from different language (Oorvasi oorrvasi from Khadalan, Chennai senthamil maranthene - Mkumar and one more hinidi song).By this time I was comforatable because I could see atleast some non-Hindi items. Perfoamce was so average that it was not even in standards with the shows I've seen during my time in CIT (Coimbatore inst. of tech), but ya it is in Boston, even average things looks better.
Others intresting dance is for "Radha kaise na jale, Radha kaise na jale" from Laggan. This is such a magical romantic song, although I dont appreciate hinidi songs, some are exceptional, this is one among them.Such a simple theme and niceley choreographed.
(This song is writtne by Javed Akthar, Muscic by AR.Rehman, Choreographed by Saroj Khan and Casted by Ameer Khan. Four muslims and the theme is about Indian Hind mythology - simply superb !!!)
Couple of foreginers were also dancing for this. Well performance was OK, but since the song by itself is great, it worked well in the ordiance.
Then two tamil-solo-classical-vocal "Poo malai vaangi vanthean pookal illaye.." from Sindhu Bhairavi & "Vellai pura ondru ponadhi kayil varamalee.." from Pudhu kavithai. Well most of the audiance have no clue about this song, but I enjoyed it !!!You can't help it ,India is a multi-lingusitic country, within 1000 Km the whole culture changes.
They have couple of good kabra dance (hope I spelled it correctly), I know it only as "balle balle .."songs. I have never seens any such Norhtindian culturals in India, infact I haven't even seen any stage shows for that matter. But see now...My friend was smiling at this and said, you could see the real India only outside the border !! May be he is right.
Foot-loose
End of the party was a foot-loose event in a different hall, and one of the student was DJing. It was below average but the best thing is crowd & girls. It was full of girls, girls. We had a nice time in dance (as if we born and brougtup in disco culture !!!) for around 2 hrs..beers, wine, vodka was mixing with all Bollywood hip-hop songs..!!
The last number was "merra Hindustaani..." !!! every body were dancing including Chinkies, Americans , and african-american & including we ppl!!!!
It was FUN !!

BORAT - Filthy comedy
Last tuesday went to showcase cinemas with my friends to watch Borat - I have read the review b4 and it was acclaimed well in the box office. But I never expected the cinema hall to be house-full . Infact the week before I saw only 4 ppl (including my friends) for DON.
Before this movie I dont know much about the country - Kajakistan
I donno what angry/grudge the directtor had on Kajakistan, He has absolutely blasted the country to his best...
Story of the movie -haa..dont worry , luckily there is no time to look for that.To start it was good, but some where inbetween it started disgusting - too much of adult comedy..filthy scenes..too mcuh ..For eg Borat says ..nope leave it you better watch it in the movie. !!
Some of the comedy is good . For eg Borat books a hotel room, and the waiter takes him to the room thru the elevator.Had never seen elevator in his life b4,Borat, starts opening his suit case and bags as soon as he enters the lift, saying this is a nice room (thinking that is the room !!!)
If you are a person, who likes any type of adult comedy, ignoring any sort of centiments, you would enjoy the movie..Else stay away from the movie..
Newyork nagaram urangum neram...
Gifts - Gifts are always good as along as we are on the receiving side :-) joke !!!
Well, Statue of Libery, NY, is a gift from Frenc goverenment to US, for celebrating My Birth day. :-), ok ok for their 100th year of independence.
Constructed in France for 9 years (1875 to 1884), and gifted to people of America on July 4, 1884 , by people of France :)
View of Newyork & NewJersey taken from Empire state building.
It was 9:00 AM in the morning and little windy in , 86 th floor. It was beautiful view of the NY from the highest building in NY (well it used to be WTC, befor 9/11).
The best part is you could see Statue of liberty (appearing little green the next pic).
This is one of the place we coverd during our trip to Newyork. A metallic globe kept infront of the UN building, I donno wat is symbolize, but looks good to take some snaps and hence...

My Feb-14th
My Feb-14th...
We have a project release lastnight, as usual, and were a looong day. Had a late sleep, without having any clue about the surprise , the next day morning is going to unveil.
Feb-14th morning - it started like yet an other sober morning, (I think it was Tuesday), till I hear the door bell. I tried my best not to hear the bell, thinking my friend will open the door. Finally he won, I walked to open the door, thinking it should be the maid. To my surprise there was no body outside, Irritated by this nonsense I was about to close the door, then I noticed the girl standing next to my neighbors door with a rose in her hand and in white saree (my favorite). Ok it is Feb-14th, I realized, any way it is just a Tuesday for me. I was about to close the door. Something flashed in my mind, “I've seen this girl somewhere....in my office? ..No..in the bus?…may be..but ,lemme see her again”. I opened the door, to my surprise she was about the knock my door and I opened it...oh...means..she was mistakenly standing at my neigbours door...oops...I could hear my hear beat - and is faster than my Think-Pad !! Oh...wat is that in her hand..a red rosee...oops..is that for mee...ohh..what is she doing...inserting it in my hand...before I could come back to normal...she left...oops.
5 minutes latter
My Other friend came in (he works in night shift) and said, there is huge crowd of girls outside, with rose in their hand, and it blocking him entering the house. In fact the crowd is even blocking kormangala, 29th street. I went panic when he said all the girls were asking for "ME" !! Is it a prank ?? I went open the door and I cannot blv my eyes, a huge crowd of girls , with roses, in my door step, on valentines day, GOD what happened to you ,you heard my prayers huh ?!?!?!
Before I could open my mouth, my mobile was hammering on my head !!! It should be my friend reminding about the current bill..come on guys, bill can wait. I wanted to switch that shit off surprisingly this idiot was not stopping. I tried once, twice..thrice, and lost my patience. I throw it down in the floor....at last it stopped ringing, but my friend started yelling at me as if sky is falling down..watz the matter with him....I opened my eyes..oops...wat "I OPENED MY EYES...".
It took 14 seconds to me to realize it was 4:AM in the morning, my mobile hit my friend who sleeping I the same room, there is no 29th Street in Koramangala, and more importantly the whole drama is happening in my dream...!!!
Dreams are important, the only place where you can control the world, your world – I read this somewhere, for some reason it came to my mind now..
