MIT - Diwali celebrtions.

MIT, Hravard, or whatever frist class foriegn universities never admired me because i was never intrested in higher studies.

Yesterday Sangam - an Indian assosiation in MIT had their diwali celebration in their Campus.(of course itis NOT free !!). I'm usally uncomfortable with these kind of indian functions outside for the simple reason they will assume Hindi for granted. I cannt understand head or tail of it. For me any north Indian language is Hindi.

It was friday night, no othere usefull work todo, so we friends decided to spend time there, atleast we can see some good girls !!!

By the time we reach ther culturals were started. The hall was 3/4 full mostly with students, and little outsiders like us.Here and ther you could see some Foreigners.

Now the culturals..

First one was a Bharathanatiam dance by 4 of 5 girls, I dont remember the # of exactly because all the time I was starinf only at the girl dancing in the blue attire, she was looking very beautiful in a typical bharathanatiam attire (FYI, I'm no way related to any of these dance ).She was very nervous in the stage and her dance was not that great, who cares !!! My friend told me "ok buddy 20$ worth it"

Then it was a dance by guys for songs mixed from different language (Oorvasi oorrvasi from Khadalan, Chennai senthamil maranthene - Mkumar and one more hinidi song).By this time I was comforatable because I could see atleast some non-Hindi items. Perfoamce was so average that it was not even in standards with the shows I've seen during my time in CIT (Coimbatore inst. of tech), but ya it is in Boston, even average things looks better.

Others intresting dance is for "Radha kaise na jale, Radha kaise na jale" from Laggan. This is such a magical romantic song, although I dont appreciate hinidi songs, some are exceptional, this is one among them.Such a simple theme and niceley choreographed.
(This song is writtne by Javed Akthar, Muscic by AR.Rehman, Choreographed by Saroj Khan and Casted by Ameer Khan. Four muslims and the theme is about Indian Hind mythology - simply superb !!!)
Couple of foreginers were also dancing for this. Well performance was OK, but since the song by itself is great, it worked well in the ordiance.

Then two tamil-solo-classical-vocal "Poo malai vaangi vanthean pookal illaye.." from Sindhu Bhairavi & "Vellai pura ondru ponadhi kayil varamalee.." from Pudhu kavithai. Well most of the audiance have no clue about this song, but I enjoyed it !!!You can't help it ,India is a multi-lingusitic country, within 1000 Km the whole culture changes.

They have couple of good kabra dance (hope I spelled it correctly), I know it only as "balle balle .."songs. I have never seens any such Norhtindian culturals in India, infact I haven't even seen any stage shows for that matter. But see now...My friend was smiling at this and said, you could see the real India only outside the border !! May be he is right.

Foot-loose

End of the party was a foot-loose event in a different hall, and one of the student was DJing. It was below average but the best thing is crowd & girls. It was full of girls, girls. We had a nice time in dance (as if we born and brougtup in disco culture !!!) for around 2 hrs..beers, wine, vodka was mixing with all Bollywood hip-hop songs..!!

The last number was "merra Hindustaani..." !!! every body were dancing including Chinkies, Americans , and african-american & including we ppl!!!!

It was FUN !!
